DISCOVERING FAIRBORN, OH
Fairborn is a city in Greene County, Ohio near Dayton. Fairborn is the only city in the world with the name, a word created from the names ‘Fairfield’ and ‘Osborn,’ the two villages that merged in 1950. This area was part of historic Shawnee territory before European settlement.
Wright State University, a public institution that serves nearly 20,000 undergraduate students, is located in Fairborn. The city is also home to the disaster training facility known informally as Calamityville.
The Fairborn Parks and Recreation Division feels there is something for everyone when it comes to recreational fun. Many of the activities are annual events, and new activities have been added for youth and adults. There are over 10 parks available for residents to relax in.
