Signs It’s Time to Upgrade Your HVAC System: Springfield Heating & Cooling

Aug 13, 2019 | Uncategorized

The main sign that everyone Springfield resident knows: your furnace or air conditioner stops working and your feeling very uncomfortable. But there are more ways to tell when your system is going to give out soon. Before calling for another diagnostic, let’s see if any of these descriptions match what might be going on with your unit.

Amount of Time Your System Takes to Run

With each year that your units run, they are going to wear continually. It’s a good idea to have a tech come out once in the spring and fall to look at your units. The longer you wait, the more likely your system might break, which could have been prevented. Also, if you don’t get your units serviced, it could be taking up more energy than is needed. The more power consumed, the higher your bills will become.

Aging Furnace/Air Conditioner

The older the units become, the less efficient they will be. After 10+ years of your units running, they decrease to under 70% efficiency. Consistent maintenance is key to keeping your system running effectively.  Your ductwork could also play a large role in the efficiency of your system. Getting your vents cleaned out frequently can help the life of your units. The more build-up inside your unit, the harder it has to work.

Noises

If noises are coming from any part of your system, it needs to be checked out by a professional. When the system starts to hum loudly, it could be that a blower fan has come loose, your ductwork needs to be cleaned, or there is a leak. Older units experience humming because they are trying to run harder to keep up with the thermostat, and it might not be able to keep up.

Keep making the Same HVAC System Repairs

If parts keep failing in your unit, it could be time for a whole new system. When the same part keeps going bad, it means the overall system is failing. Investing in a new unit now will save you money in the long run. If you want us to install your new system, we do offer financing. We want to make your life easy!

Air Quality

If your air seems to be getting dry or maybe too much humidity, that could also be a sign that your unit is getting old and can’t keep up with filtering your home’s air. You could get a humidifier to help out with the dryness in the air, but it might not completely fix this issue.
